The chief of staff of the US Air Force decided to personally intervene in the recruiting crisis. He directed a nearby Air Force base to be opened and invited all eligible young men and women.
The chief met two young men, one claimed to be a pilot and was quickly accepted, while the other said he chops wood. When questioned further, the wood chopper insisted on his skills, pointing out that he had to chop wood before his pilot brother could pile it!
